Meet the Teacher!

My name is Mrs. Schneider and I am SO excited to be apart of your child’s kindergarten year! It is going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us.

I grew up and have lived in Vernon Hills almost my entire life, but now reside in Grayslake with my family. My husband and I got married in 2019. I have a 5 year old step-daughter who will be entering kindergarten this fall. I attended Illinois State University for my bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in Special Education.  I have my Master’s Degree from the College of Education with a degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I love to learn and continue to take classes each year.

This is my fifteenth year teaching at Hawthorn. I have taught half day and full day kindergarten for twelve years. I looped with one of my classes and taught first grade for a year. I LOVE kindergarten! I have so much fun with the students learning to read and write. The growth they make from the beginning of the year to the end is amazing!

I love dogs! I have two whom I adore! My sister and mom each have two too. When we are all together we have six dogs running around! I have a 14 year old Shiba Inu named Kai and a 6 1/2 year old mix named Zoey.

I truly believe in the motto “Learning through love and laughter”. It is my goal this school year to meet the individual needs of each child.  I will dedicate myself to your child this year and work towards instilling a true love for learning.  I strive to provide a nurturing environment for my students so they will feel free to become all they can be.  Working together, we can assure that every child feels welcome and receives the best education possible.
