September 2018 – grade 5

Students in 5th grade have been studying complementary rhythms (different patterns that blend together to create an interesting sound).  As part of this unit they have been listening to an example from the world of jazz –  the “Theme from Peter Gunn” by Henry Mancini.  As you listen, see if you can hear the drum set playing four complementary rhythms.
