December 2015 – grade 5

The fifth graders have been studying “Rondeau” by the most famous  British composer of the Baroque era – Henry Purcell.  The A section (see below) of this piece was later used by the 20th century composer Benjamin Britten as the theme for a series of variations entitled “Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra”.  The students will be studying these variations in depth during music class in January.
